What Is Salvation in Christianity?

Christian salvation provides freedom to be set free from personal sin that condemns our souls to a spiritual death and separates us from our Holy God, our Creator. The soul’s rescue mission provides an opportunity to establish a relationship with God Almighty, the eternal one.
Salvation is the transformative experience of spiritual rebirth (born again) which occurs from above. This spiritual rebirth leads believers by faith to put their trust in God Almighty through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, who is our Messiah. This new faith leads to salvation, provides believers with eternal life while establishing a deep connection with the one true God.
Holy Scripture serves as the cornerstone for understanding salvation, yet the diverse doctrines and practices across Christian denominations highlight key differences in interpretation. Some denominations emphasize faith alone (sola fide) as the sole path to salvation, while others stress the importance of obedience to God’s commands, participation in sacraments, good works, or reliance on divine, unearned grace as essential elements of the salvation journey.
